It took quite a while until "Pure Energy" became the song that we all know. Initially Marlon was working on it already in October 2004. That's when he produced the song "Mind-Bending Climax" exclusively for the Sony Music/Tunnel Records CD-compilation "DJ Networx". It was the first version of the song that included an eponymous voice sample. Since the melody was so strong in spring 2005 Marlon decided to "vocalize" this song. So he sent the song to Alexander Perls who lived in New York City back in the day and already delivered great work for another Accuface classic: "Your Destination" one year earlier and also on Alex Megane's first hit record "So Today" (both released also on the Austrian label BE52 Records). Marlon remembers: "When I received the vocals I was completely stunned. They were absolutely amazing - sung by Michal the Girl from NYC who already provided lyrics for ATB, Niels van Gogh and Kareema (a side-project of Manuel Reuter and Manuel Schleis who were also responsible for the productions of Cascada). Motivated by those great lyrics and vocals I started working hard on finishing the production of the song that later became "Pure Energy". "Due to my perfectionism it took me almost half a year to finish it. Meanwhile Alex Megane delivered his remix. He was in Sydney Australia at that time and he could only use his laptop for the production. I remember the day he sent over his amazing remix. I could't believe that he did all that on a laptop. It was 2005 and the possibilities of digital workstations - producing only within a computer - weren't anything like they are today. Pure genius. Back in the day I worked a lot with Sebastian Wernke-Schmiesing aka Marc van Damme​ - a great friend of Alex Megane and his production partner at the famous Alex M. vs. Marc van Damme project who lived in Bremen at that time. Since Alex's remix was an absolutely amazing production wise but could deserve some mixing improvements we tweaked the mix together at my studio and also mastered it.", Marlon remembers. Meanwhile also the amazing Trooper Remix arrived. So Marlon was in zugzwang to finally finish his own version but was so caught by his own perfectionism so much that he just couldn't finish the mastering since he was never satisfied with the sound. Sebastian offered his help and his "fresh ears". Together they were able to finish the mastering by Christmas 2005. "I was finally super satisfied and even more happy that it instantly got requested for the big CD compilation "Future Trance" from Universal Music. On the 27th of February 2006 the single was finally released on vinyl and digitally. Two weeks later the "Future Trance" got released. "Pure Energy" became alongside "Your Destination" and "Red Sky" Marlon's biggest hit with high ranks in the Top 10 Dance Charts all over the world. In 2012 Marlon decided to give this song a High Energy upgrade. With the great support of Sebastian Göckede aka Bass-T (who sadly died in summer 2013) and Sven Gruhnwald aka Rocco he released it alongside a huge remix package containing versions by five of Marlon's most respected artists (Rolf Maier Bode aka RMB, Trance Arts, Max. K, Ace Da Brain and Gimbal and Sinan) at the end of 2011 as "Pure Energy 2012" on Bass-t's and Rocco's label High Five Records when a tragic incident happened: exactly on the day of the release Michal died while giving birth to twins. "One of the saddest moments. Usually a release day is one of the happiest moments for everyone involved in a production after spending so much passion, time and effort. But I couldn't really promote it. The only thing that counted that day was that at least her twins would survive.”, Marlon remembers. And they did. Now in 2020 Marlon was finally able to take down all the leftover "pieces" of the former "Pure Energy" release from shops and streaming services so for the first time this song is finally back in his own hands. He spent lots of effort remastering all versions with the newest technology right from the original premaster tapes. All mixes never sounded as good as today. They now shine in 24 bits HQ with even a special treatment for the streaming services to get the best possible sound!
